Presentation of BalanceSheet. T Jl e R?P arua County Council met recently, Mr James Leslie presiding Correspondence was received from the STelwyn County Council regarding inspectors of stock and noxious weeds and suggesting that a chief inspector be appointed to have control of the Canterbury area. J Se £ reta i r *: , of the Canterbury I Roadside Beautifying Association wrote asking that the clerk should be allowed accept a seat on the Executive and Advisory Committees of the association. After discussion. Mr Afaginpess --given authority to accept the inviDr Telford, Medical Officer of Health, wrote directing that a notice be served on Messrs Kempthorne, Prosser and Co., requiring them to abate the alleged nuisance arising from their chemical works at Hornby. The registrar of Canterbury University College wrote forwarding a synopsis of Air A. E. Flower’s introduetorv speech at the recent meeting of local body representatives when the financial position of the Museum was discussed The matter received a sympathetic reception and it was decided to inform the registrar that the council was in favour of the proposal that the local bodies should contribute to the funds but that, the suggested area should be considerably enlarged. The grader drivers reported the state of the various roads in their patrol areas, giving the roads which required more metal. They stated that the recent removal of large stones from manv of the roads had had a particulars* good effect. The Ha re wood Road was a case in point where the removal of the stones had had the effect of producing a very good running surface. The clerk presented the balance-sheet for the year. On the motion of Mr Leslie, seconded by Mr Langdale Hunt, the staff were complimented on the expeditious manner in which the balance-sheet had been prepared.
