DANCE AT SHIRLEY
Staff of J. R. M’Kenzie, Ltd, Farewell Manager. The staff of J. R. M’Kenzie, Ltd., Colombo Street, held an enjoyable social and dance in the Shirley Masonic Hall on Saturday evening to farewell Mr H. Morrison, manager of the Colombo Street branch, who has been transferred to the managership of J. R. M’Kenzie, Ltd., Auckland. Opportunity was also taken to welcome Mr J. M’Gregor, who will succeed Mr Morrison. The committee responsible for the success of the evening comprised Mr E. Ward, Misses Nathalie Muirson, Edith Stringfellow, Stacia Walklin, Rita Bateman, Jean Ling, Veronica Tulloch, Dorothy Woodhouse, Eileen Cother, Gladys Bennetts, Eunice M’Duff and Mrs J. H. Gill (honorary secretary). Music for the dancing was supplied by Woodward’s band and Mr E. Ward was M.C. Extras were played by Mr Jack Wyatt, and exhibition dances were given by Miss Betty Carnachan and Mr Percy Geddes. Violin solos were given by Mr Ted Brownie. Competition dances were won by Miss Tulloch and Mr Tom Gordon, Miss Ling and Mr Ferguson. After supper Mrs Gill, on behalf of the staff, presented Mr Morrison with a leather travelling case as a token of the esteem in which he was held, and wished him every success in his new appointment.
