After a quiet beginning, business on tho Stock Exchange quickly brightened up and a good list of sales has been put through. Values generally have approximated closely to those ruling before the holidays. In the banking section New Zealands have firmed up and a sale this morning at 48s Sd showed a rise of sd. After the sale buyers were still in at 48s 6d, with holders at 495. Insurances were again firm and buyers for New Zealands moved up to 58s. A general advance in Government securities was the feature of the noon call. The activity of Bank of New Zealand shares was again in evidence. Unions also continued in demand. LATE SALES YESTERDAY.
