ST ANDREW’S COLLEGE.
Meeting of Board of Governors. At the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of St Andrew’s College, held recently, the Rev J. L. Robinson and Mr J. I. Royds were re-elected chairman and vice-chairman respectively. The retiring members, the Rev W. Marshall, Alessrs C. L. M’Crostie and John Deans, were re-elected, and Messrs J. W. Graham and W. A. C. M’Donald were nominated for seats on the board. The resignation of Mr G. Morton Smith was received with regret. The following appointments for the year were made: Rev J. L. Robinson, chairman of the Appointments Committee; Air Charles Ogilvie, chairman of the Finance Committee: Air W. A. C. Al’Donald, chairman of the Grounds Committee; Air A. O. Wilkinson, secre-tary-treasurer; Mr W. E. Best, auditor. The head master (Air A. K. Anderson) reported that the number of new pupils was fifty, the highest for several years. The school roll was 193, as compared with 186 at the beginning of 1933 and 178 at the end of last year. The boarders had increased from 37 to 46. Eight old boys-had graduated in 1933. F. B. Alacfarlane (Edinburgh University) and A. M. Hartnell had gained the M. 8., Ch.B. degrees; N. Barker and W. F. Alonk. the B.A. degree; R. N. Robertson (Sydney University). F. J. Wilson and J. B. Wilson, the B.Sc. degree; and D. J. Wilson, the B.Corii. degree. W. F. Monk had. in addition, won the Senior University Scholarship in history. and R. N. Robertson had gained first-class honours in botany. E. T. Dowling had qualified brilliantly in architecture at the Architectural Association School. London, and W. R. Simpson had secured his diplomas in New Zealand. W. AT. Sullen and I. J. D. Minson won Final Diplomas and A. A. Blakely a Shell Scholarship at Canterbury Agricultural College.
