MARSHLAND SCHOOL.
Annual Swimming Sports Are Held. The annual swimming sports of the Marshland School were held in the Belfast baths on Thursday afternoon in fine weather. Following were the results:—2svds boys—Ron Mooney 1, Jim Robertson 2. 25yds girls—Winnie Kiesanowski l, Dorothy Sanders 2. 25yds. hoys and girls—Ron Mooney 1, W. Kiesanoweki 2. 10yds, boys and girls—
Trevor Marks 1. Ngaire Andrews 2, Ex-pupils. 25yds— Doreen Blackburn 1, Pat Goode 2. Ex-pupils, 50yds—Doreen Blackburn 1. Mavis Andrews and Pat Goode 2. Plunge—Boys: Trevor Marks 1, Ron Mooney 2. Girls: Winnie Kiesanowski 1. Ngaire Andrews 2. Balloon race—Boys: Leslie Hibbard 1, Trevor Marks 2. Girls: W. Kiesanowski 1. Ngaire Andrews 2. At the conclusion of the events, the prizes were presented by Mr W. R. Andrews, a member of the School Committee, who congratulated the children on the progress they had made. The children gave cheers for the management of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company for permitting them to the baths for the season, also for the
School Committee for providing the prizes. The first card evening for the season under the auspices of the Kchooi Committee wa« held in the hall on Tuesday, the prizes being won by Mrs H. Blank t Templeton) and Mr W. R. Andrews. . y——i Miss E. Glubb, who has been an tha staff of the Marshland School for ths past two years, has received notice of her appointment to- a position on ths staff of the Addington School. Misses Joan Palmer and Brenda Hibbard, who were recently inmates of the Christchurch Hospital, have returned home.
