SUCCESSFUL PICTURE.
“ Voltaire ” in Third Week at Tivoli.
“ Voltaire,” the great screen play featuring George Arliss, is now in the third week of its extremely successful season at the new Tivoli Theatre. Arliss has the assistance of a notable cast of players in a combination which must surely be the envy of any director. Arliss himself takes the part of Voltaire, known as the “ father ” of the French Revolution. The film brings to the screen a realistic impression of the dissolute court life of the time of Louis XV., almost ruthless in its characterisation. Doris Kenyon brings her beauty to the role of Madame Pompadour; winsome Margaret Lindsay plays the part of Nanette Galas, daughter of the murdered patriot; Theodore Newton plays Francois, the faithful servant; Reginald Owen the part of King Louis XV'., and Alan Mowbray that of Count de Sarnac. First-class “ shorts ” complete the bill of fare.
