The North Canterbury District Executive of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union met on Wednesday in the W.C.T.U. rooms, an all-day session being held. Mrs Richards presided. Members were reminded of the conference of the National Council of Women on April 18 and 20, when a number of interesting subjects would be discussed. Miss Henderson spoke on the importance of further organisation and the need for extending the work and creating interest in parts of the district where no union existed. Mrs Lowry was appointed honorary organiser for the North Canterbury district, all unions to be asked to co-opeiate and give financial support. Mrs Barren presented her report on the JuoUee Convention held recently at Wellington and attended by 146 delegates. It was decide.d to write Mrs H. B. Low. of Timaru, to address a number of uniot.s on the question of “ Peace and Arbitration.” A letter of congratulation was sent to Mr Cliff Deans on his appointment of president of the Y Dominion Executive. The next executive meeting will be held on the first Wednesday , in May.
