FAREWELL SOCIAL.

Rev. F. and Mrs Greenwood

Entertained.

Members of the Richmond Methodist Church and friends recently met to say good-bye and Godspeed to the Rev F. and Mrs Greenwood. After forty years of active service as a minister, the past four being spent in Richmond, Mr Greenwood is retiring. Mr A. J. Nicholas occupied the chair. The Rev E. Drake, superintendent of the circuit, spoke of happy associations with Mr Greenwood in the administration of circuit affairs. Mrs Bowden, on behalf of the Ladies’ Guild, spoke of Mrs Greenwood’s untiring interest, and presented to her a bouquet, given by Mrs Petrie, sen. Other speakers were: For the Boys’ Club, Mr Leo Shaw; Girls’ Bible Class, Miss L. Straw; Young Men’s Bible Class, Mr J. D. Gray; choir, Mr L. C. Quane; Sunday School, Mr. W. Frankland. On behalf of the children a cup, saucer and plate was presented to Mr Greenwood by Colleen Nicholas.

Mr Nicholas, on behalf of the trustees and congregation, presented to them two eiderdown quilts and a linen tablecloth, as a mark of love and esteem. Both suitably responded, speaking of the happy years they had spent in Richmond.

Solos ■were sung by Messrs L. C. Quane, W. J. Turner and T. Woods. The meeting: closed with the singing of " God Be with You till Wte Meet Again,” M* Greenwood pronouncing the benediction, after which a . social . hour was spent. Mr and Mrs Greenwood’s futdre home will be in Wellington. «
