ACCEPTANCES.

Thames Trotting Club’s Meeting. AUCKLAND, April 6. Following are the acceptances for the Thames Trotting Club’s meeting on April 14:—

GOOD RESPONSE. When the Waimate Racing Club took the nominations for its meeting last month, the response was so disappointing that the committee decided on a postponement. Eventually, a new date was secured, Thursday, April 19, two days before the South Canterbury meeting. This appears to be much more suitable, as the club has attracted strong fields. There is a useful contingent of Riccarton horses, who will do the two meetings, so the arrangement appears to have been very popular. ALL-AUSTRALIAN.

There was an all-Australian flavour about the result of the Lansdowne Plate, a six-furlong handicap, run at the Bombay winter meeting on January 20. The event was won by an Australian gelding, Staff Officer (The Night Patrol—Full Blood), ridden by J. Munro, and trained by another Australian, R. Higgins.
