MAN WITH THROAT CUT.
A man named S. Brophy was found in a small room at the Royal Hotel yesterday afternoon with his throat cut and a razor lying beside him. He was taken to the Christchurch Hca pital where his condition is serious. Particulars of the injured man are unknown. It is stated that he went into the bar at the hotel between 4 and 5 p.m. and without having a drink retired to a small room adjoining where he was heard to fall to the floor and was found as described. Brophy’s condition this afternoon was satisfactory. He was operated on this morning, but he is still on the seriously ill list.
