Time—2min 50sec. Notes from the Course. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH, April 7. Bell Heather, the favourite in the Awapuni Handicap, ruined her prospects by repeatedly breaking. Blue Blood trotted very smoothly and was never seriously threatened. Jester, who was made favourite for the Ladies’ Bracelet, got hemmed in, and when eventually freed made his run too late. Guy Zolock overhauled Jean Parrish four furlongs from home and resisted a challenge by the latter in the final furlong to win comfortably. Aerial Boy, with whom Arthur Chimes was bracketed, registered a smart performance in winning the Pohangina Handicap. He drew away three furlongs from home, and nothing« had a chance thereafter. Although Smoke Screen, the favourite for the Cup, was the first to get away, he lost his position early, and was never dangerous thereafter. Paul Drusus went to the front half a mile from home, and drew away at the straight entrance to win by three lengths. Jean Parrish early took the lead in the Longburn Handicap, spreadeagling the field. She was ten lengths clear going down the back, and went on to win comfortably.
