Russian Girl Has Interpreter
for Lessons.
Per Press Association.
WELLINGTON, April 7.
Galina Bogatiroff, the eleven-year-old Russian girl who was reunited with her parents in New Zealand in January, has settled down at Foxton and is doing well in standard three at school. There is another Russian girl, Nina Picholoff, who has been at school since 1930, and although she had no knowledge of English when she came to New Zealand she now acts as interpreter for Galina in her lessons.
Galina’s father says that his daughter is getting accustomed to her new home and the new people and already has picked up many simple words, although she still finds it hard to combine them in sentences.
