Meeting of Local School

Committee.

The monthly meeting: of the- North Brighton School Committee was held on Tuesday; present —Messrs A. Florance (chairman), WS. Bussell, A. H. Henry R. H. Mahan, S. Margetts. F. S Norrie J Sands W. On March 28 a visit of inspection to the school had been made by the board’s inspectors, the report being highly satisfactory. In acknowledging an expression of thariks and appreciation of the committee s support during the year from the head master and staff, the chairman congratulated them on the excellent report of the inspectors, and paid a tribute to their work. The head master’s report showed that the average attendance for the past eight weeks was: Boys 240.7. girls 230.7: total. 471.4, out of a possible 513. Last week there was a marked drop in attendance owing to the prevalance of measles. 43 boys and 56 girls being absent from school on Wednesday morning, and 44 boys and 56 girls in the afternoon. It was decided to write to the Education Board asking for a new cupboard and a number of necessary repairs. A vote of thanks to the secretary, Mr W. J. Knighton, for services rendered during the year was passed. A sum of £2 10s is to l>e paid to the Health Department from dental clinic funds.
