“ TORCH SINGER.”
Claudette Colbert Starred at Majestic.
“ Torch Singer,” starring the magnetic Claudette Colbert, is featured at the Majestic Theatre this week. It is an intensely moving and human drama, with a wide appeal. The production has many facets of excellence, but its most remarkable feature is the fine acting of the star. In this film Claudette Colbert plays a woman with two personalities—one hard as a diamond, the other a loving and tender mother. This is a role in which she can, and does, display all her great ability, and in portraying such diverse characterisations gives her best performance yet. The supporting programme is excellent. It includes a good comedy featuring Eugene Pallette and Walter Catlett.
