Athletic Films.
JT HAS BEEN DECIDED by the N.Z.A.A.A. to take immediate steps to obtain motion films of champion athletes in action in an effort to assist Dominion athletes to improve their running. It is possible that a set of pictures will be taken of the Australian athletes, J. P. Metcalfe, T. E. Hampson and W. Barwick while in New Zealand. At a conference of athletic centres in Wellington the secretary of the N.Z.A.A.A. (Mr L. A. Tracy) said that the council of that body had looked into the question some time ago. It had been found that a British Olympic Association film of 1000 feet would cost about £4O; and that film did not cover the whole of the Games and was not slow motion. Mr J. A. Gasson, of Canterbury, said that films showing athletes in action had been shown in his province and had been greatly appreciated.
