FIRST SHIPMENT.

Jamaican Oranges Reach Christchurch. The first commercial shipment of Jamaican oranges arrived in Christchurch this morning and sold well. The condition of the fruit was favourably commented on by the trade. Further shipments are expected in the next few weeks. Mr A. L. Macfarlane stated this morning that Jamaican oranges were all Empire-grown and were improving with every season. More care had been given to producing young trees which were now starting to bear, and the latest methods of packing and grading were in force. The Jamaican orange could not be surpassed for its juice or flavour. It, was literally a ball of juice. They were grown in a climate where the sun shone every day of the year.
