HUNDREDTH CONVICTION.
Man Mistook the Avon for the Road. William Herbert Vincent mistook the River Avon for a road last night, and it was not surprising therefore that he pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court this morning to a charge of drunkenness, his fourth in six months. Incidentally, he earned his hundredth conviction. Sub-Inspector Edwards related the story of the mistaken road and said that Vincent, aged 57, a labourer, had gone to the hospital. His immersion, however, had not sobered him up and he was refused admission. His home for the night was the cells at the police station. Three months* imprisonment was the sentence imposed on Vincent by Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.
