INERTIA OF BRITAIN.
More Cruisers Wanted for Safety of Empire. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, February 15. At a meeting of the Navy League, Admiral Sir Dudley de Chair, formerly Governor of New South Wales, said that aeroplanes could not work for weeks in mid-ocean, escorting merchantmen to and from Australia. “We must have more cruisers and still more cruisers for the safety of the Empire,” he said. “Others are building warships while Britain is paralysed by inertia. If we continue to be a doormat, we must not be surprised if the dominions neglect and despise us.”
