PERPETUAL CARNATION CUTTINGS.
These can be rooted at almost any lime of the year, if the growth can be had in proper condition. Those made during the early summer are much stronger than those made during the winter and spring, while the plants are growing less strongly, and consequently will make good plants in less time thar. weaker growth. If sufficient young stock has not been obtained it is advisable tc root some now. They must be put in sandy soil, and although heat is not necessary, some method of shading anc keeping the cuttings moist must be devised. A frame is just the thing, as it can easily be shaded. Carefully puli off all decaying or rusty leaves before inserting cuttings. The cuttings should be syringed every morning, and the frame opened to give a little air every evening, and closed next morning.
