WELLINGTON CARNIVAL.

Committee “ Breaks Even ” Financially. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 16. In the course of a statement issued to-day Mr G. G. Stewart, chairman of the executive of the 'Wellington National Confidence Carnival, said: “Briefly stated the receipts from all sources amounted to £2200 and the expenditure to £2588. By the generous co-operation of those with whom the carnival committee did business special discounts have since been allowed to enable the committee to ‘break even.’ Had public support of certain of the principal events—particularly the historical pageant and the business girls inter-house display—been up to reasonable expectations the carnival would not only have paid its way but would have had a substantial balance to hand to the Mayor’s fund."
