Miss Janet Timbs has left for a holiday visit to Southland. Mrs R. Halse, Marton, is visiting her sister, Mrs Day, Riccarton. Dr L. B. Hart and Mrs Hart, Suva, are the guests of Mr and Mrs Crust at the New City Hotel. Mr and Mrs F. C. Bastin, Westholrr\e Street, Papanui, returned to Christchurch this morning, after a fortnight’s holiday spent in Auckland. Mrs H. W. Van Loon, wife of the prominent New York journalist and lecturer, is a passenger by the Franconia, due in Auckland to-day. Mr and Mrs P. Shirnack, Picton Avenue, Riccarton, with their daughter Nan, have returned from a month’s holiday at Paraparaumu, Palmerston North and Waikuku Beach. Mrs E. A. Miller, who has been visiting Mrs T. W. Martin. Hataitai, Wellingtcn, and Mrs T. W. Martin are to arrive in Christchurch this morning and are to stay with Mrs Martin, Kilmore Street. Miss Pamela Fell, kelson, has arrived in Christchurch from Wellington and is paying a round of visits to her friends and relatives here. She is at present the guest of her aunf, Mrs BuchananMatson, Mansfield Avenue. Mrs Edwin Wilding left last evening £pr the north to spend a few days with rrer parents at Dannevirke prior to leaving for Australia. Mr Wilding will join her later and they expect to sail by the Monterey from Auckland for Sydney on Thursday next. Lady Findlay, Wellington, will arrive in Christchurch on Tuesday morning to visit her son and daughter-in-law, Squadron-Leader and Mrs J. L. Findlay, Sockburn, before leaving for England. Mr and Mrs Walter Weston, New Plymouth, arrived in Christchurch today from Hanmer and are spending the week-end with Mr and Mrs George Weston, Park Terrace. Mrs Walter Weston will leave for Dunedin on Tuesday morning to attend the Plunket Conference.

Mrs M. T. Lawlor, Bishop Street, has left to spend some weeks in Dunedin and South Canterbury. Mrs Charles Ogilvie, Cashmere Hills, who has been holidaying at Pureikanui Beach for some weeks, will return to Christchurch next Saturday. Mrs J. F. Studholme, Helmore’s Road, Fendalton, has left for the North Island and will visit friends in Hawke’s Bay before returning home. Miss Helen Hayes, Naseby Street, Merivale, who is touring the North Island, is expected home at the end of next week. Mrs Leslie Averill, Bealey Avenue, who has been visiting her parents, Dr and Mrs Robertson, Auckland, has returned to Christchurch. Mrs Brian Boys, Waipukurau, who has been visiting relatives in South Canterbury, returned to Wellington by last night’s boat. Mr and Mrs J. Halligan, Wellington, returned to Christchurch yesterday from Hanmer and are spending a few days with Mr and Mrs F. I. Cowlishaw, Bristol Street, before returning north. Mrs W. Willes, who has been spending several months in Christchurch and with her brother, Sir Heaton Rhodes, “ Otahuna,” will return to England early in March. Mr and Mrs Marmaduke Bethell, Pahau Pastures, Culverden, are spending the week-end in Christchurch, where they are the guests of Mr and Mrs George Gould, Fendalton. Mr and Mrs Stanley Prankerd, Rossmore Terrace, Cashmere Hills, have taken Miss Irene Wilson’s house at Maheno Bay, Wellington, for a holiday, and will leave Christchurch next Saturday evening. Mr and Mrs A. B. Lane, Wellington, who have been attending the Press Conference at Hanmer Springs, are the guests of Mr and Mrs W. Mackenzie, Dyer’s Pass Road, Cashmere Hills. They will go to Ashburton on Saturday for the Lane-Anderson wedding, and will return to Wellington on Wednesday evening.
