Senior Players in Good Form. WELL-FOUGHT MATCHES. Added interest was given to the senior competition of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association at Wilding Park this afternoon toy the meeting of Canterbury College and United 11., the only two unbeaten tfcams in the grade. Every match in this contest was hard fought and some excellent tennis resulted. At the conclusion of the singles the College team led by three matches There were a number of other interesting meetings, and play as a whole showed a brighter promise. All players were working up to top form in prepai'ation for the Canterbury championships at the end of next week. One unexpected win was that of I). G. Silvester, of Addington, over N. G. Norbert-Munns (Fendalton), 6-3. 6-4. Silvester played a safe game which kept him ahead of his wilder opponent. Barnett Beats Dymond. The meeting of H. A. Barnett and H. Dymond, first men respectively for Canterbury College and United IT., provided the best tennis of the clay. Barnett, who won 6-4, 6-2, was in excellent form and gave his best exhibition this year. Playing hard sliced shots from the backhand and fast flat strokes on the forehand, he kept an accurate length and held Dymond at bay all through. Of somewhat similar construction was the game between T. Rhodes-Wil-liams (United) and B. A. Barrer (College), won by Rliodes-Williams 6-3, 6-3. Barrer. whose game has shown remarkable improvement during this season, was playing beav*tifully down the sidelines. but Rhodes-Williams’s game was too accurate and strong for him. Another excellent win was that of R. L. Sow den (College) over P. G. Greenwood (United IT.). This game developed into a marathon, with both players on equal terms.
