SYDNEY WOOL SALES.

Better Volume Changes Hands. VALUES UNALTERED. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 17, 9.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, February 17. The “ Sydney Morning Herald's ” weekly wool letter says:—“ Under the influence of more widespread competition, a better volume of wool was offered at the Sydney sales this week and changed hands, 91 per cent of the 44,593 bales submitted being sold in the sale room. Values were without quotable change compared with the previous week, but the tone of the inquiry exhibited an improvement. “ Values for shorter and finer merino fleece wools showed a definite trend in the owners’ favour. Buoyancy in values for finer comeback and cross-bred wools has been a consistent feature of the season’s selling. Opinions in regard to ftuture prices were more favourable this week, the idea being general that values are on a firmer foundation than has been apparent during the slight receding movement of the past four weeks. “ The week's sales averaged in the vicinity of 193 d per lb.”
