ANGER IN DAIL.
Mr de Valera’s Hot Retort for Dr O’Higgins. DUBLIN, February 14. Dr O'Higgins, one of the Blue Shirt leaders, created pandemonium in the Dail by asking Mr de Valera whether a visit by the wife of Commandant Cronin to Arbour Hill had been cancelled because h:r husband refused to attend Communist lectures in prison. Dr O’Higgins alleged also that Commandant Cronin had been manhandled a second time because he claimed the right to wear his own clothes. The Minister of Justice (Mr Ruttledge) replied that all prisoners were treated according to the regulations. Dr O’Higgins asserted that the deputies had been laughing at the murder of Cornelius Daly*, of Cork, in November. They were now laughing at the half-murder of another Cork man. Mr de Valera: It is a falsehood. Dr O'Higgins: It is not! Everybody in the House was a witness of it. Mr de Valera: Everybody .knows it is a damned falsehood. Mr Ruttledge accused Dr O’Higgins of cowardice in refusing to withdraw his “ contemptible allegation ”, at which further uproar occurred.
