DEATH OF DETECTIVE.
Prosecutor at Auckland Police Court. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 16. The death occurred last evening, after an illness, of Detective M. O’Sullivan. He was 48 years of age. He had been prosecutor at the Police Court for the last twelve months. W. H. Besley. Mr William Henry Besley, whose death occurred at New Plymouth this week, was a well-known business man in that town and a keen horticulturist, who exhibited in many of the more important shows in New Zealand. He was 57 years of age. In recent years he had taken an interest solely in the cultivation of his begonia gardens, being before that a most successful exhibitor at many of the Dominion’s more important horticultural shows. Mr Besley was also an enthusiastic member of the New Plymouth Rotary Club. For many years he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, holding several high offices. He was Worshipful Master of the Egmont Lodge, Stratford, and Past Principal of the Royal Arch degree. He was a member of the Taranaki Preceptory and also of the Rose Croix, Eighteenth Degree. He had been a member and a vicepresident of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce and for some time was president of the Taranaki Employers’ Federation.
