A Question and a Reply.
Dear Sir,—May I ask what ration the “ Star ’’ has for suggesting that the evidence 6f Major Douglas before the MacMillan Committee in London was not sufficiently conclusive and satisfying to warrant notice in the committee’s findings? Is it not possible that members pf the committee were hostile to the Douglas Credit Scheme from the outset, and gave the proposals only cursory examination?— l am, etc., J.V. Linwood, February 14, 1934. One question asked of Major Douglas when he appeared before the MacMillan Committee, was: “ What would your practical recommendations to the country be to give effect to your view and remedy this inherently wrong system? ” Major Douglas replied: “ Well, I am afraid my training and experience as an engineer make me want to hedge on that point. I should say that what I should first want to do would be to examine the situation very closelymore closely than in my position I am able to do.”—Editor “ Star.”
