A Melbourne Cup Query.
Dear Sir,—l shall be thankful if you could supply the placing, of the first four horses, together with riders, in the Mel. bourne Cup in the year 1903. While talking of comparisons with the New Zealand Cup and the Melbourne Cup, one of a party of four stated that he had ridden in the Melbourne Cup in the year 1903, and we asked him to state the plscings and the horse he rode, which he declared had finished fourth. He has no fear of our doubts, and asked u, to procur, the information from any newspaper office we thought fit to ask. Thanking you for your valued space and information.—We are, etc., FOUR MUGS. Greymouth. The fourth horse in the Melbourne Cup of 1903 was ridden bv F. Hickey. The result was: Lord Cardigan 6.8 (N. D. Godby) 1, Wakeful 10.0 <F Dunn) 3, Seeport 7 2 (W. Bennett) 3.
