Women and Bowling.
Dear Sir, —As a member of the most oppressed sex will you allow me space in your columns to protest against the exclusion of women from the official tournaments of the Christchurch Bowling Centre? This is a mean action. Men don’t mind keeping women working after them, supplying them with afternoon-teas, etu. and running functions for them whenev-v they want to make a little money to ac.v this club or that. No, sir. Men like tr* the women working for them and running after them. That is a different matter from playing with them. Vet the women more than the men need the recreation, something to take their minds off the drudgery cf housework. Well, they say, “ Let them have a little game on their own. We don't mind them unofficially in the background ” But that is just the sort of male tolerance that is intolerable to women of spirit, and if they have any sense the next time a club says, “ Oh, we’ll ask the ladies to, arrange so-and-so, a little tea-party or bridge drive to raise a little funds.” the women should all strike, and demand an official place in the game of bowls.—l am, etc., WOMEN’S RIGHTS.
