LATE MRS M. WALKER.
The late Mrs Margaret Walker, whose death occured yesterday in her eightysixth year, will be regretted by a large circle of friends and relations in Christchurch. She was the fourth daughter of the Rev James, later Archdeacon, Wlison, and was born at Solihull, Warwickshire, England, in 1848. Of the four girls in the familv Mrs Turton of Geraldine is the sole survivor. The family arrived in New Zealand by the Isabella Hercus on March 1, 1851. She married Mr William Campbell Walker, C.M.G., M.L.C., who at the time of his death in January, 1904, was Speaker of the Legislative Council. Mr Walker was a member of the Seddon Cabinet in 1896, being Minister of Education, Minister of Immigration, and Minister in Charge of Hospitals and Charitable Aid. While .her husband was alive Mrs Walker lived at Mount Possession, and later when he was member of Parliament for Ashburton they moved to \ aletta. For the past thirty-three years she has lived on the Cashmere Hills and was a generous supporter of the St. Augustine Church, which she attended regularly until her last illness. She is survived by one daughter, Miss Margaret \\ alker, and four sons, Messrs Graham, Cecil and Dundas, all of Christchurch, and Alexander, of Whangarei.
