SUCCESSFUL PICNIC.
Over a hundred persons attended the mystery picnic arranged by the North Lin wood Burgesses’ Association, spending- an enjoyable day on Mr L. Wright’s property on the bank of the Waimakaliri. near Coutts Island. During the afternoon a hearty welcome was accorded to Mr and Mrs Wright, and thanks were extended to them for their generous offer of the use of the grounds. The following were successful in the sports events held in the afternoon: Single Women—Miss E. Frisk 1. Miss M. Nairn 2. Single Men—R. King 1, R. Johns 2. Married Women—Mrs Thelning 1, Mrs M’Cree 2. Married Men— W. Henry 1, W. Lawson 2. Social Committee—King 1. G. Goodall 2. Women’s Stepping Competition—Mrs Tlielning 1. Nail-driving—Miss. G. Giles 1. Mixed Shoes Race—Miss M. Giles 1. Novelty (blind feeding the blind)—Mr and Mrs D. Ransley 1. Burgesses' Handicap (D. G. Sullivan Trophy)—W. Grigg l, (p T. Evans Trophy) T. Butterfield 2.
