CHILLED BEEF.
N.Z. Shipment Equals Best From Argentine. AUCKLAND CARGO LANDED. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 15, noon.) LONDON, February 14. The first shipment of chilled beef from Auckland arrived by the Sultan Star. There were 1300 quarters, of which two-thirds were subjected to the carbon dioxide process in the sealed holds. The remainder was not subjected to the process. Both were identical in quality and the conditions of loading were also identical in order practically to test the methods of carriage.
Mr Ronald Yestey stated: “ Both opened perfectly and there was nothing to choose between them. They were fully equal to the best from the Argentine.”
