SWIMMERS ARRIVE.

Competitors at Dominion Championships. STRONG AUCKLAND TEAM. Competitors in the New Zealand swimming championships, which will open in the new St Albans bath on Saturday afternoon, are beginning to arrive in Christchurch. This morning a strong Auckland contingent reached the city from the north and were met by officials of the Canterbury Centre, and later in the morning visited the St Albans bath for training. Auckland have a fine women's team in Misses M. Farquhar, B. Lewin, M. Leydon, S. Grange and N. Ludlow; while the men, all of them well-known performers by now, are N. Crump, RFrankham, R. Thomas, W. Hassan and B. Raper. On Monday Thomas advised the Auckland Centre that he would not be available, but it was ascertained this morning that he had been able to get away- at the last minute. An Auckland water polo team was expected, but financial considerations prevented the despatch of sufficient other men to complete a side with those who are now in Christchurch. With no Auckland team, the draw will have, to be rearranged, and no matches will now r be necessary on Saturday’ and Monday morning, when heats of championship events will be swum. Water polo rounds will all be decided at the three big carnivals on Saturday afternoon and Monday - and Wednesday evenings.
