POLAND PREPARES.
Ready to Meet Horrors of Gas and Bomb Warfare. WARSAW, January 23. The whole of Poland is to be covered with a network of alarm and observation apparatus, gas-proof chambers, first-aid stations and other adjuncts, and courses of instruction for training the whole population in what to do in a time of emergency are to be instituted. At a Cabinet meeting yesterday, presided over by the Premier (M. Jedrzejewicz) a series of drafts of new laws to be submitted to the Sejm in the next few days was approved. Among these are a law regarding the training of the army recruits of 1934 and a measure for the protection of the nation against attack by poison gas or aerial bombardment. The draft of the latter law was worked out by the War Ministry and provides that in future all measures for protecting the public against such attacks will be under the direct administration of the Minister of War or the Commander-in-Chief of the Army.
