RESCUE BY LIFEBOAT.
British Official Wireless. RUGBY, February 1. A fierce northerly gale swept Britain to-day. It was especially violent in the Channel and the North Sea and two cross-Channel sailings between Dover and Ostend were cancelled. The lifeboat at Filey, Yorkshire, rescued in heavy seas the crew of the motor vessel Carchclyde. At Deal, great waves pounded the foreshore and swept over the promenades and roads.
