SUCCESSFUL GALA.

Many Attractions at Pines Beach. The annual gala of the Kaiapoi Pines Beach Association was held at The Pines yesterday in fine sunny weather. Tli© attendance was not so large as usual and numbers seemed to prefer picnicking in the shade of the trees or bathing in the surf to the si'deshows and other attractions provided. Children were liberally catered for with sports and other amusements and a baby show created a good deal of interest. The Kaiapoi Brass Band played selections during the afternoon and an enjoyable dance was held in the Pines Hall at night.
