Grade Field Earning £150,000 a Year. LONDON, December 17. That Gracie Fields is earning at the rate of £150,000 a year from films, the stage, phonograph records and radio broadcasts, is the estimate of the film critic of the “ Daily Express.” This is a bigger salary than any star in Hollywood receives. Even Greta Garbo is paid only £IOO,OOO. Gracie has started the production of a new talkie, “ Love, Life and Laughter,” which alone will bring between £25,000 and £28,000, being at the rate of 40s a minute. Her film, “ Sally in Our Alley,” is breaking house records at hundreds of cinema-s in every part of the country. Moreover, Gracie is earning £25,000 a year by stage appearances, while she is among the ten most popular gramophone recorders. Her earnings from this source are not less than £25,000. Gracie is an immense worker, her greatest pleasure being in travelling in a caravan and cooking her own meals. .
