Hotel Lights.
Th E AGE-OLD legal requirement that a light should be kept .burning outside a hotel was referred to by Mr N. S. Johnson at the quarterly meeting of the Hamilton Licensing Committee. Mr Johnson said he could understand- the need for the light ip the early days when it was useful to show belated travellers the way to a halting place, but he questioned whether, in view of the modern methods of lighting the streets and of travel, the lighting of hotels was still necessary in a town like Hamilton. The Licensing Committee deferred consideration of the matter until the annual meeting in June next.
