The Golden Cage,” with Anne Grey and Anthony Kim.nins, will he shown finally to-night at tire Crystal Palace

• Broadway to Hollywood,” a stirring drama of three generations in the American theatre, will be the featured item at the Crystal Palace Theatre tomorrow. The picture is embellished with the performances of Fay Templeton, May Hobson and other idols of the Broadway of yesterday, who appear in a modern studio with the following screen celebrities—Alice Brady, Jackie Cooper, Jimmy Durante, Frank Morgan and Madge Evans. “ Broadway to Hollywood ” unfolds a vivid story which, through its nature, permits the logical placing of many of the features of a revue. It shows poignant drama among the people of the stage in their dressing-rooms, then flashes to what is going on upon the stage, where famous stars of an earlier day are presenting their greatest hits. The plot covers three generations from Tony Pastors day to modern Hollywood. Alice Brady and Frank Morgan play the original dancing team. Their son, played byJackie Cooper, joins the act. Finally, thte veterans are seen in Hollywood with their grandson, a money-mad screen star. In the dramatic climax the grandfather saves the boy from himself. Alice Brady and Morgan contribute sterling characterisations., and Jackie Cooper romps through the best role of his career. Eddie Quillan. as the screen star, is a “natural ” for the part. Madge Evans and Russell Hardee are well east as the romantic stage pair, and the work of the remainder of the all-star cast is of the very best. Albertina Rasch contributes brilliant ballets in colour for the stage sequences. The dramatic climax is said to be on-j of the most remarkable ever screened. A ballet of 500 dancers filmed in colour dances in the largest set yet constructed at a film studio. There are laughs and sobs, thrills and surprises in this cavalcade of the theatre. The supporting programme will Include a screamingly funny Charlie Chase comedy’’ entitled “ Nature in the Raw.” Box plans at The Bristol.
