Reorganising Plunket Society. There was a large attendance of mothers and interested residents present at a pubfic meeting convened by Mrs A. Robinson, and held in the parish hall, Hornby, un Tuesday afternoon, for the purpose of reorganising and establishing the local branch of the Plunket Society in the district. The question of whether sufficient support would be forthcoming was discussed, and it was decided that prospects in this direction were very good. A new committee was elected, as follows:—President, Mrs Huffadine; vice-president, Mrs a. Head; secretary and treasurer, Mrs C. Woodham; committee, Mesdames Robinson, Smalley, Gunderson, J. Marsden, Roberts. Thomas, Alsweiler and Manson. Jt was arranged that the secretary and Mrs Robinson should interview the Christchurch Centre in order to have the services of the nurse restored this week. Social at Islington. A large number of residents gathered at the weekly social held in the Islington Hall on Wednesday evening by the Welfare Committee for the purpose of augmenting its funds. The competitions resulted in Mesdames Duggan, R. Woodham, Watson and Anderson winning the -prizes.' At ' the conclusion, supper was provided by the lady members of the. committee. Personal. The employees of the Hume Pipe Company (Australia), Ltd., assembled on Wednesday evening, for the purpose of making a presentation to Mr Hector Drummond on the' occasion of his marriage. Mr C. Broun, in making a presentation of a tea service, wished Mr Drummond every success in behalf of his fellow workers.
