AVONSIDE MOTHERS’ UNION
The final meeting for the year of the A von side Mothers’ Union was held recently, the service in the chui’ch being taken by the vicar, the Rev W. JHands. The meeting then adjourned to the schoolroom, where the vicar thanked the members for their work during the past year, and specially thanked Mrs .Johnson for her gift of spoons to the branch. Mrs Hands, who presided, welcomed the little girl from St Saviour’s Home supported by the Avonside Mothers’ Union and presented her with a cake and several parcels for Christmas from the members. Mrs A. Peverill. the treasurer, was also presented with a small gift in appreciation of her services, and Mrs Sprosen presented Mrs Hands with a bouquet of Iceland poppies, and Mrs A. I-illey with a bouquet of roses from the members. Through the kindness of Mrs Hitchcock four of the oldest members were able to l»e present and they also received bouquets of roses. Afternoon tea was served.
