INQUEST OPENED.

Woman’s Death in Corsair Bay Accident. The inquest concerning the death of Mrs Jessie Harris, who was killed in a car accident at Corsair Bay on Sunday, was opened at the Lyttelton Police Station, before the Coroner (Mr 11. A. Young), yesterday. Dr Francis Leo M’Laughlin, of the steamship Rotorua, said he was at Corsair Bay on Sunday afternoon when he was informed of the accident. He found one boy, aged about eight years, on the side of the road. He was suffering from injuries to the scalp and one arm, and from shock. He found the woman down the cliff, about three chains below the road. The woman was dead.. Witness found that she had sustained severe head injuries. From his examination he would say that death had been instantaneous, and would be due to the injuries received when the car fell over the bank. George Henry Stant, a wickerworker, residing at 126, Mackenzie Avenue, Woolston, identified the bedy as that of Jessie Harris, a married woman, aged thirty years. He had known her for fourteen years. For the last seven years she had been his housekeeper. He last saw her alive at 1.30 p.m. on Sunday, when she left with two sons of witness in a car owned and driven by David Ludecke. Her relatives resided in Australia. The inquest was adjourned sine die. __
