WAGE REDUCTIONS.
Claims in Conciliation Council. A reduction of wages was claimed by the employers in the leadlight and glass workers’ dispute, heard in the Coneilito the dispute were t.lie Christchurch Leadlight and Glass Workers' Industrial Union of Workers ami the employers. The assessors were: Employees, Messrs C. V. Butcher, S. W. Powell. A. H. Scales and V. Few: employers, Messrs H. Bradley, IT. O. Burst. A. JKirbv and D. I. Macdonald. The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr S. Ritchie) presided. The employers’ claims provided for a reduction from 2s 2d to 3s 3Od per hour, and from 2s Oid to Is 7id per hour for the two classes of workers. The range of wages for youths was to be reduced from £1 as to £2 a week to from 12s 6d to 27s 6d for. the first four years. The fifth year wage would be 25s per week instead of 2s Old per hour. Rates of overtime were to he reduced from time and a half for the first four hours and double rates thereafter to time and a quarter for the first four hours and time and a half thereafter.
