BANDIT FOILED.

FIGHT FOR REVOLVER. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY. ‘‘Hold up! Stop!” These words were shouted by a man, as he pointed a revolver, at a clerk who was getting into the driver’s seat of a car, in which he had placed a bag containing a considerable sum of money. The clerk was Mr. I*. If. Howes, of North Walshan, Norfolk, and at the time had left the estate oftice of Mr. Guy Davey, of Aldborough, with the money, rents of cottages on the estate. He was taking the money to a bank. Grabbed the Barrel. After he had placed the bag in the car and was getting into the driver’s seat, a man approached ou the near side and pointed the revolver at him through the open window, shouting the words quoted above. Howes shouted for help, and, throwing his right hand round, grabbed the barrel of the revolver, which appeared to be of a Service type. There was a sharp struggle at the window, Howes holding firmly to the firearm and still shouting for help. Making a final effort, his assailant violently wrenched the revolver from Howes, and, alarmed by the outcry, retreated to the rear of the car, still facing Howes, and pointiug the revolver threateningly at him. Howes switched on the light and sounded his horn for five minutes. Eventually his employer and another man came up. and Howes took the bag back into the office. His assailant disappeared. The attempted hold-up occurred at 7.30 p.m.
