WEDDINGS.

Last Night’s Brides in Satin and Lace. PASHBY—CRESSWELL. The Shirley Methodist Church was beautifully decorated last evening for the wedding of Doris, only daughter of Mr and Mrs G. N. Cresswell, Winter’s Road, Papanui, to Robert Allan, younger son of Mr and Mrs R. Pashby, Rangiora. The Rev S. Bailey officiated, and Mr W. D. Marks was organist for the ceremony, which was fully choral. The bride’s cousin, Miss Bens Cresswell, attended as bridesmaid, and Mr E. Palmer was the best man. Mr Cresswell gave away his daughter, who wore a beautiful hand-embroidered veil over her gown of ivory angelskin lace. Her arm bouquet was of white hothouse flowers. Her maid was dressed in a dainty frock of apple-green georgette relieved with touches of pink. Frills outlined the hips and trimmed the little capelet sleeves. Her hat of pedaline straw and her arm bouquet of roses repeated the pink colour note. The Saxon Club and Joy Girls of the Shirley Church formed a guard of honour at the door, and the bride was presented with a horseshoe by Keith Collins. A black crepe-de-chine ensemble relieved with green was worn by the bride’s mother, who received her guests at the Shirley Methodist Schoolroom. Her hat was of black baku straw, and her bouquet of shaded Iceland poppies. The bridegroom’s mother was also in black relieved in her case with touches of white. Matching baku straw fashioned her hat, and she carried a bouquet of red roses. When the bride left by car on her wedding tour to the Southern Lakes, she wore a navy-blue phantom crepe ensemble trimmed in cherry and grey, and a navy hat of ballibuntl straw. WISE—REED. The Rev G. Nelham Watson officiated at the wedding last evening at St Mark’s Church, Opawa, of Helen Edna, eldest of Mr and Mrs John Reed, Sullivan Avenue, Opawa, to Frederick George, only son of Mr Frederick Wise, Spreydon. The bridal group, besides bride and groom, consisted of three maids, Misses Nellie Reed, the bride’s sister, Hilda Wise, sister of the bridegroom, and Mary Brown, and a Jit tie flowergirl, Nola Yates. The bridegroom was attended by Mr George Templeton as best man, and Mr Alan Barrowman was the groomsman. Mr Reed gave away his daughter, and music for the ceremony, which was fully choral, was played by Mr J. W. N. Baker. The bride wore a frock of ivory satin beaute. Diagonal pin-tucks and tiny buttons were used as trimming, and a swathed sash was finished at the back with a soft bow. The long sleeves formed points over the wrists. Her daintily embroidered veil, arranged in cap style, was held in plg.ee with sprays of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of white hothouse flowers with touches of pink. Frocks of willow green chiffonette trimmed with tiny kilted frills and girdles of violet velvet were worn by the three bridesmaids. Their large green hats of racello straw were swathed with violet velvet, and they carried sheaves of hothouse flowers. The little flower-girl wore a Victorian frock of cameo pink georgette and a cap composed of flowers and leaves. She carried a posy of pink and blue field flowers. As the bride left the church she was presented with a lucky horseshoe by little Audrey Overend. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Cadena, where Mrs Reed received the guests wearing a frock of cigar brown matalasse trimmed with beige georgette, a long skunk stole, and a hat of brown pandan straw, relieved with two-toned ribbon. Her bouquet was of shaded tangerine and flame flowers. Miss Minnie Reed wore a frock of powder blue georgette trimmed with a sash of cherry satin, and a hat to tone. For travelling, the bride wore a tailored suit of military blue phantom crepe relieved with mist grey crepe, and her grey hat was trimmed with a buckle to tone.
