CHANGE IN WEATHER.

Colder, With Light Fall of Rain. The change which has been expected in the weather for some time materialised over Canterbury this morning, when conditions generally became colder and light rain fell in most parts of the province. Rain began to fall in Christchurch at noon, after the wind, changing from easterly to south-westerly during the night, had banked up threatening clouds. It appears that the change is slowly extending northwards, for rain began to fall in the South Canterbury districts last night, when the wind veered to the south-west. In the northern districts, the weather this morning was threatening, but rain had not fallen on the coastal areas. Farmers in the Methven district have; been well treated by the weather this season. Beneficial rain has fallen over the past seven week-ends, and the rainfall to date this month is 4.80 in. The heaviest fall was on November 4 and 6, when 2.82 in of rain fell. Indications point to a good season for crops.
