LATE MRS H. DRISCOLL.
Mrs Harriet Driscoll, who died recently at Kaiapoi, was born in Gloucestershire in 1863, sailing with her parents in the ship Eastern Empire the following year. Her first heme, in New Zealand was at Addington. Her father, Mr Daniel Leach, was the first foreman-ganger on the railway line which was being constructed to Kaiapoi, and she was educated at Miss Parnham’s and at Mr Matthews’s school at Kaiapoi. In 1884 she was married to Mr Edward Herbert King, a seafaring man and later a well-known hotel proprietor of North Canterbury, being licensee of the Junction Hotel, Rangiora, the Waiau Hotel and the Commercial Hotel. Kaikoura. where he died in 1893. Several vears later Mrs King was married to Mr R. Driscoll, of Kaiapoi, where she resided to the time of her death. Mrs Driscoll is survived by her husband and by two sons and a daughter of her first marriage. The funeral took place at the Linwood Cemetery, the Rev J. T. M’William officiating at the graveside. The pallbearers were members of the Loyal Kaiapoi Oddfellow’s’ Lodge.
