“THE KID FROM SPAIN.”
Eddie Cantor’s Sparkling Musical Comedy. At the Plaza Theatre the one and only Eddie Cantor is appearing in his latest extravaganza, “ The Kid From .Spain.” Actually, of course, the show is United Artists, but so closely has the round-eyed comedian become identified with comedies on a breath-taking scale of lavishness that " The Kid From Spain ” —typical of its delightfrl kind—is in every sense " his.” Besides being funny in that rare fashion that sets audiences fairly shrieking, the picture is everything that a de luxe musical comedy should, in fact could, be. Its bright. speedy action, its legion of gorgeous girls, its rich froekirg. brilliant settings, and perfectly-drilled ensembles—all these combine with catchy musical numbers and clever dancing to form a show in a hundred. Lyda Roberti, a fascinating blonde, provides much fun in the role of comedienne. Also on the programme is another of those wonderfully coloured Silly Symphonies. It is a fairy tale entitled “ Babes in the Wood.”
