KAIAPOI HOCKEY CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Kaiapoi Hockey Club - was held on Thursday evening, the president (Mr J. A. Mealings) presiding over a fair attendance. The report and balance-sheet, the latter showing a small credit balance, were received and adopted. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr R. W. Hawke, M.P.; president, Mr J. A. Mealings; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Wylie, R. W. Wylie, G. W. Wright, A. Gray, H. Thornley and L. B. Evans; club captain, Mr G. Davey; vicecaptain, Mr H. Green: secretary and treasurer, Mr W. P. Smith; assistant secretary and custodian, Mr H. Green; committee, Messrs F. Hammer, I. Stark, R. Kendall, C. Josephson and A. Green; coach, Mr F. Isles; delegate to the Canterbury Hockey Association, Mr G. Wylie. It was decided to open the season on Saturday, April 8, and to make application to the Kaiapoi Park Committee for a playing ground. The entry of teams in the association competition was left in the hands of the committee. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr H. Thornley, who acted as coach to the club during the past season.
