Misses Nellie and Patricia Lynskey, Rangiora, have left on a holiday trip to the North Island. Miss Doreen Sheehy, Dunedin, is the guest of Mrs E. M. Kennedy, Rotherham Street, Riccarton. Mr and Mrs J. C. Lang, Auckland, were passengers to Wellington by last night’s ferry. Mrs and Miss Harrison, Christchurch, are staying with Mrs R. T. Turnbull, Beverley Road, Timaru. Dr Winifred Haward is spending a week in Auckland before leaving for Sydney and England. Mrs S. Burnside, Wellington, is visiting her mother, Mrs E. M. Edmonds, Gloucester Street West. Miss Betty Kiver, Papanui Road, will return to Christchurch to-morrow after a short visit to Wellington. Miss Betty Petre, St Albans, will return to Christchurch next week from a visit to Mrs Kenneth Murchison, “Glenthorne.” Mrs Macfarlane, Christchurch, who was the guest of Mrs Hope, Tumanako, has left to stay with Mrs J. Mowbray Tripp, Silverton, Woodbury. Mr and Mrs F. Kolkman, Mrs W. Dawson, Mrs J. Veitch and Mrs T. Pepper have returned to Christchurch after spending a holiday at Arthur Pass. Mr and Mrs Geoffrey Goodwin, Lower Hutt, arrived in Christchurch this morning en route for the Southern Lakesarrived in Christchurch yesterday evening, and is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs B. E. FI. Whitcombe, Merivale. Mrs Guy Cotterill, Merivale Lane, and Mrs G. F. Colbeck, Cashmere Hills, who have been staying in Wellington, have left for Auckland. Mr and Mrs B. M’Kee, Rotherham Street, Riccarton, are at present spending a month’s holiday in Dunedin and Evansdale. Mr and Mrs Endell Wanklyn, Rossall Street, left last night for Wellington, where they will visit Mrs Wanklyn’s mother, Mrs J. C. Westall, Heretaunga. The Right Hon G. W. Forbes and Mrs Forbes and their two daughters, the Misses Bertha and Jessie Forbes, will leave for Wellington by to-night’s ferry steamer.

Mrs T. W. Lewis, Miss Hilda Lewis, Park Terrace, and Miss Mae Hall, Cashel Street West, returned on Thursday from a short visit to Hanmer Springs., Mrs Voelcker, England, is the guest of Mrs John Anderson, “ Inveresk,” Cashel Street West, until next Tuesday, when she and Miss D. Anderson will leave for the Franz Josef Glacier. Mrs George Whitcombe, Dunedin, Miss Mildred Kresse, Murray Aynsley Hill, who has been in Auckland to see her mother, Mrs O. R. Kresse, off to America, will spend a fortnight motoring in the North Island before returning home. Miss Shelagh Gumbleton, Webb Street, left yesterday evening for Wellington to meet her aunt, Dr Jessie Maddison, who is arriving by the Maunganui from Sydney. Dr Maddison has been living in England for some years.

Mrs F. W. Freeman, “ Jesmond,” Cashmere Hills, her sister, Miss Althea Cookson, Lady Superintendent of the Wellington Public Hospital, and Mrs Noel Nelson, Tinakori Road, Wellington, have motored through to Whangarei, where they are the guests of Mrs J. Donaldson, Fernhill. Mrs A. C. Fahey, Timaru, who is staying with Mrs J. FI. Fahey, Bishop Street, left this morning for Greymouth to assist Mr Rees M’Conachie in his recital on Monday night. While in Greymouth she will stay with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs F. M. Dennehy. Sir Charles Clifford, “ Stonyhurst,” and his sister, Mrs Bruce Douglas, “ Glenesk,” Greta, who are in Wellington for the St Patrick’s Day races, will return to Christchurch to-morrow morning. Mr Walter'Clifford and his daughter, Mrs Shirreff-Hilton, Fendalton, will also return home to-morrow morning. Miss B. Holland, of the Sanitary Inspectors’ Department, and Miss P. Jenkins, of the Town Clerk’s Department, were entertained at tea yesterday afternoon on the occasion of their resignation from the staff of the Christchurch City Council. The Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.), on behalf of the staff, presented Miss Holland with a gold wristlet watch and a reading lamp, and Miss Jenkins with a brass firescreen and a necklace.
