A letter was received from the Stratford County Council asking the council's support of representations to the Government to take over the liability of the farmers’ rates for 1933 and to waive its claim for land tax. It was decided that the letter be received and no action taken.

Advice was received from the Unemployment Board that in future small farmers will not obtain employment under No. 5 scheme, and that both the farmers’ and board's interest would be best served,if the farmer were employed on his own land. Assistance, however, will be granted on the recommendation of the local Unemployment Committee under scheme 4A for work on their own property. It was decided to defer consideration of the matter, the clerk to write to the Unemployment Board pointing out the difference between West Coast and other centres with regard to farmers working on their own land. In reply to the council’s request to the Unemployment Board for an increased allocation to the Blackball unemployed for the purpose of retaining the doctor’s services at Blackball, the board wrote stating that as the allocation for Blackball was computed on the same basis as that for other parts of the country they were unable to agree to an increase in the allocation.
